How to Order a Commission

  • 1. Choose a size, and select reference photo

Please review my price list which includes the sizes I have available. You don’t have to decide on a size right away, we can discuss what will work best for your portrait. Pick out some of your favorite photos of your pet. The more photos the better! I work largely form one photo but like to see other images to ensure I have the correct coloring and markings of your pet. For the best results, photos should be detailed and taken in natural lighting. Please read my guide on taking good reference photos.

  • 2. Contact me

Contact me with your reference images. We will go over the best size and image to use for the portrait. I will also go over additional details and the approximate date I can begin your portrait. I will create a mockup in photoshop, and once approved I require a 25% non-refundable down payment to secure your spot on my waiting list.

  • 3. Creating your portrait

I will notify you a few days before I start your portrait. The time required to create your portrait varies and can range anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

  • 4. Shipping

Once the portrait is complete, I will send you a final image for approval. I truly want this portrait of your pet to reflect him/her so I can make any small changes at this stage to fulfill this. Once the rest of the balance and shipping fees are paid, your portrait will be shipped! Every portrait comes with a guide on handling pastel pieces.

Additional Information

  • Matting

Pastel can smudge easily and needs to be framed behind glass with a mat. I offer an acid-free white matt for an additional $10-20 depending on the size of your portrait. With this mat your portrait will be ready to frame upon arrival. If you choose not to receive your portrait matted, you will need to take it to a framers to be framed.

  • Backgrounds

I can create a solid color background, a simple blurred background, or leave the color of the paper as the background. We can go over multiple mockups to find the best option for your portrait. More detailed backgrounds are available at an extra cost. Prices will vary depending on the complexity.

  • Customizing

I am able to take out collars, leashes, and other unwanted objects found in the reference photo. In addition, I can combine two dogs from two different photos into one for a double portrait. If you have any specific requests, let me know!
